Teaching Competencies of Teachers of Physical Education in the Primary Stage in Riyadh

Abstract

This Study aimed to explore the knowledge of Physical Education [PE] teachers at the primary school stage in the teaching skills which included  the planning, execution, and assessment skills, and to identify the difference between PE teachers' teaching skills according to their qualifications, grade of the qualification, experience, and training. The study implemented the descriptive research methods. Its population included all PE teachers at the primary school stage in Riyadh city, It used   a questionnaire which was developed by the researchers. The questionnaire validity and reliability was examined prior the study. Its population contained all PE teachers in primary school in Riyadh city (765 teachers), according to the Ministry of education statistic report of the school year 1438-1439H. The questionnaire was sent to the PE teachers, and (271) questionnaires were completed. The main findings revealed that the overall score of PE teachers' teaching competencies was high in which planning competency was (3,97) then the implementation competency (3,78) and the evaluation competency (3,79). Moreover, there was a statistically significant differences on the level of (0,05) between the participants in planning skill based on qualification.
