Abstract

The study aimed to determine the level of applying governance standards in Saudi sports clubs in light of some variables. The study followed a descriptive correlational approach, and data were collected using a questionnaire to measure the level of applying governance standards, consisting of (58) items distributed across five dimensions: strategy and leadership, management and operation, commitment and control, financial management, and marketing activities. The questionnaire was administered to a simple random sample of (350) individuals, including club presidents, board members, presidents, executive directors, and administrators.
The study yielded several results. It found that the level of applying governance standards was high. Statistically significant differences were found between response averages in the level of applying governance standards attributed to the difference in the club's division, in favor of the professional league clubs. Differences were also found in the dimension of management and operation attributed to the difference in years of experience, in favor of those with 10 years of experience or more. However, no differences were found attributed to gender or educational qualification.
The study recommended enhancing the high level of governance to ensure its sustainability through rewards, incentives, professional development, and the adoption of some measures that contribute to continuous improvement and development and support the application of governance standards
